The former Liverpool manager admits a return to manage Liverpool is conceivable.
The German coach, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club is something that could happen. Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
They secured the league title in the previous campaign, though countless followers who adore the manager would welcome the notion of his potential comeback. Speaking candidly, he shared with the podcast host: “I stated I refuse to lead a different club within the country. Therefore in case it's my former club...absolutely. It's plausible.”
“I’m 58, that means I could make the decision later on, who knows. Is a decision required immediately? Then I will not coach again. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”
Conditions for a Comeback
When asked about what circumstances would need to occur to bring him back to the dugout, he confessed he was not instantly drawn to such a return. “I'm not entirely sure, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing during downpours for two-and-a-half or three hours; I'm glad to skip press conferences four times, three times a week or doing numerous chats weekly.
“I don’t miss the dressing room as a dressing room, yet sharing a meal with the team having a nice chat, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games so there was often great spirits in the building. I can still hear the captain's chuckle in my ear for example.”
Praise for His Successor
Klopp was full of praise for his successor, praising him for the tweaks that won the league in the previous season. They've been defeated four in a row in all competitions post heavy investment, yet he dismissed the suggestion of it representing a decline.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words if you use the wrong words. An outstanding player. Ekitike, incredible player. It’s a really good well-judged squad. You don’t have to worry regarding the Reds, things will improve.”
Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward
He shared movingly on the loss of Jota, whom he brought in during his tenure, along with the consequences at the club. Jota died tragically in a car crash together with his sibling recently.
“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond his footballing ability, it's his character. It's hard to picture the dressing room missing him. Putting it into words is tough on this topic. A devastating blow for his teammates also. Nobody at Liverpool might employ it for poor performances but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Coping with it emotionally is not easy. Unbearable.”
