The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was natural for doubts to be asked about his position after another heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in twelve games, representing the team's poorest run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received significant backing from the top,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Response

The manager lamented recurring shortcomings from his team in their European loss, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a period of this nature with performances like these.”

He stated, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until it is removed, we will always compete.”

“We will attempt to get this team return to its rightful place, prove again what this club is about and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
